Remington Quietriter – QR3272259 (1950s)

This is a Remington Quiet-Riter of 1950s styling.  The serial number, QR3272259, is one digit longer than any other serial number I’ve found. I’ll have to do more research.

This paticular example has elite type and is a sand color with dark green keys.  I have no idea of production figures, but I, personally, have not seen another one in this color.  It appears to have been used very little.  The only restoration required was washing with water containing a couple of drops of dishwashing liquid, and the application of a couple of drops of oil to the carriage. Even the ribbon is in good shape.

  1. I have the same exact typewriter– only mine has its original case (kind of sage green with brown leather trim). Just thought you’d appreciate that because you had not seen one in the same color.

  2. My father has a Quiet-riter portable, it’s grey and in a case. He’s looked everywhere on it and can’t find a serial number or anything. Can you tell us where it would be found?? Please.

  3. the serial for the quiet-riters is under the hood, on the inside of the right, silver-colored support.

  4. I also have a Quiet-riter like Jonnie’s. The typewriter is grey and the case is a greenish brown color. Serial Number QR3018882.

  5. i thought it interesting that your 9 digit serial number is rare because mine is also a 9 digit. if youre curious it is QR3569341.
im hoping it means its worth more because times are tight and unfortunately i cant afford to hold onto it any longer. im taking it to an antique shop in angola, indiana this monday (9aug2010).
