Natural Abstractions – a different view of our world

One of the definitions of art is finding the order within the chaos of the natural world. I find the order as abstractions – the deeper meaning. The photographs find more than realistic renditions.

All prints are nominal 8×10 silver gelatin prints and gold-toned for permanence and color.

Albumen Prints – your solution when shopping for a unique gift

When you need a unique gift, order an albumen print. Each is hand-crafted and no two are alike – even when made from the same negative. They are a touch of history.

Albumen was the most popular way to make prints from about 1860 until 1900. As commercial manufacturers of printing paper have reduced their offerings in this century, a few photographers have returned to this old method of printmaking.

Writing paper is first coated with a mixture of albumen and salt, then coated with silver nitrate. The print is exposed under ultraviolet light. Because each print it entirely hand made, each print differs from all others. See this article for more on the process.
