This is a soft-working developer, primarily intended for portrait work where soft gradation is required. (Ed. Note – Some photographers have used this developer for film, too.)
Stock Solution
| Hot water (125F or 52 C) | 750 ml |
| Metol | 12.3 g |
| Sodium Sulfite, anhydrous | 36 g |
| Sodium Carbonate, monohydrated | 36 g |
| Potassium Bromide | 1.8 g |
| Water to make | 1 L |
For use, dilute 1 part stock solution with 2 parts water.
Normal developing time, 1 1/2 to 3 minutes at 68F (20C).
