Pat “Gadget” Gainer developed PC-TEA as a simple to make alternative to Kodak’s X-tol. It’s a one solution, one shot developer. Some folks found it prone to fog, so they experimented with adding Potassium Bromide. Here’s the version I use.
Triethanolomine heated to about 180F | 200 ml |
Ascorbic Acid | 45 g |
Phenidone | 1 g |
Potassium Bromide | 1 g |
Triethanolomine to make | 500 ml |
Gainer said to use it 1:50 with water. Sandy King recommend 1:100 with development times of about 10 minutes with rotary agitation at 72F.
